The main river of the region is Sperheios, which stems from the ravines of Timfristos and, after a 80km route, it flows into Maliakos Gulf. Phthiotis has a rich natural environment with forests, canyons, natural habitats and several hot springs. It also has many sights, ancient monuments, museums, monasteries and churches of the Byzantine and post-Byzantine period, and picturesque villages.
